Balfour Beatty have reached a significant milestone on the £150 million Madison project in Canary Wharf.
The four-year development began in March 2016, and firm foundations are now in place on this tower project.
Due for completion in 2020, the 53-storey structure will be a distinctive addition to London’s skyline and will comprise of 423 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, with almost a quarter being affordable homes.
70% of the site will improve green open spaces in London by providing a new public garden, while a gym and swimming pool will also be built.
In total, 625 piles have been driven into the ground, ready for the next phase of development of this 180-metre high structure.
Crucially, the site will supply 400 construction jobs at its peak.
Graham Hill is Managing Director of Balfour Beatty’s regional business in London and he said: “Utilising Balfour Beatty’s knowledge of complex structures in tall towers and our wide in-house expertise, we have completed the initial stage of ground works at The Madison.
“Once completed, the scheme will be a landmark addition to the luxury high end residential towers within the area of Canary Wharf.”
